About This Drink
The hop selection spans two eras of German brewing. Saaz and Perle are the traditional choices: earthy, herbal, a touch spicy. Hallertau Blanc and Mandarina Bavaria are more recent additions to the German hop canon and bring white grape, citrus peel and a slight floral lift that nudges the aroma away from the conventional lager template. It pours clear pale gold with fine carbonation and a crisp white head. The malt is clean and slightly sweet, with the hop bitterness arriving mid-palate and holding steadily through a dry, herbal finish. Nothing sharp or aggressive, just a well-structured pilsner with a bit more aromatic interest than most. At 22 kcal per 100ml it sits a little higher than the helles in the range, with correspondingly more body. Serve cold.
