Heaven & Helles takes a traditional Munich helles approach: pale malt, classic German noble hops, restrained bitterness, clean finish. Tettnanger is earthy and mildly spicy; Hallertauer Mittelfrüher adds a gentle floral and herbal quality. Neither variety is trying to draw attention to itself, which is the point. It pours bright and clear, pale straw in colour with a white head and fine bubbles. The aroma is subtle: light florals, a hint of herbs, clean grain. On the palate the malt is soft, the bitterness is present but not assertive, and the finish is short and dry. Brisk carbonation throughout. At 15 kcal per 100ml it is one of the lighter options in the Lowtide range. Gluten-free. An honest, unfussy lager rather than anything hop-forward.
