About This Drink
Journey Juice stacks a lot into a single can. The base is a hazy pale ale brewed to 0.5%, then real mango and passionfruit puree go in, followed by Sabro dry-hopping, lime juice and a custom chilli salt blend. On paper it sounds like a lot; in the glass it holds together better than you'd expect. The sweetness comes first, ripe tropical fruit that's soft rather than cloying. Then the lime cuts through, bright and sharp. The Sabro hops add coconut and stone fruit alongside it, which gives the whole thing a layered quality. The chilli salt arrives last, a gentle tingle on the back of the palate rather than any real heat. It finishes clean, with fruit and salt sitting together as the glass empties. It's a divisive style. Some people find the combination of fruit, hops and chilli salt too busy; others find it exactly right for the right occasion. Worth trying once to find out which camp you're in.
