About This Drink
Giffard's Aperitif Bitter comes from their Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Base collection, a range built around bartender use rather than casual sipping. It's the Campari-or-Aperol-shaped slot in a zero-ABV back bar: deeply coloured, structured, and dry enough to anchor a proper cocktail. On the nose there's gentian and fresh orange backed by grapefruit and a hint of berry. The palate follows: blood orange zest up front, a firm quinine bitterness through the middle, then tart grapefruit closing it down. It leans dry throughout, with an acidity that makes the next sip feel earned rather than automatic. The sugar content is high (37g per 100ml), which matters when you're building around it. Dilute generously with sparkling water or juice, or use it as the bitter element in a longer build where something sweeter carries the volume.
