About This Drink
Warner's went through 53 different ingredient combinations before settling on this one, which either says something about the difficulty of the brief or their commitment to getting it right. The base is raspberry and blackcurrant sage grown on their Northamptonshire farm, with pink pepper, chilli and Szechuan pepper providing the backbone underneath all that fruit. The fruit is the first thing you notice: berry upfront on the nose, raspberry and blackcurrant clearly distinct on the palate, strawberry coming through alongside a floral sweetness. Then the spice arrives. Ginger and Szechuan pepper give a kick in the finish that lingers longer than you might expect, which stops it tipping into the saccharine territory that catches out a lot of fruit-forward AF spirits. Blush pink in colour, clear. Reasonably versatile as a mixer, though the natural pairing is tonic water or ginger ale.
