About This Drink
Ara's rosé starts life as a full-strength Marlborough wine. The alcohol is removed using spinning cone technology, a process that works at low temperatures to preserve the wine's natural aromatics, which are then reintroduced into the dealcoholised base. It is one of the more considered approaches to dealcoholisation, and the result is noticeably more aromatic than many rivals. It pours pale salmon pink. Strawberry and guava come through on the nose with a lift of lime zest. On the palate the fruit is ripe without being jammy, and a citrus brightness keeps the acidity from going flat. The finish is clean, without the cloying sweetness that trips up a lot of alcohol-free wines. Serve well chilled. It suits soft cheeses, lightly dressed salads, or any occasion where you want something that actually feels like a proper glass of wine.
