About This Drink
Privatbrauerei Kaiserdom has been in Bamberg since 1718 and this is their headline export product. Brewed to the German purity law with just water, barley malt, hops and yeast, the alcohol is removed after fermentation using a cold dealcoholisation process rather than heat, which tends to give cleaner results. In the glass it's clear pale gold with steady carbonation and a short-lived white head. The aroma is understated: biscuit malt, mild floral hops, clean grain. The taste matches: gentle malt sweetness, low bitterness, a crisp dry finish. Nothing bold going on, but it's competent and honest. Sugar-free at 12 kcal per 100ml, it sits at the lighter end of the AF lager spectrum.
