Unchained Orange Blood is the Unchained IPA with blood orange in the mix. The recipe underneath is unchanged: pale ale and dextrin malt, Galaxy and Citra hops, under 0.5% ABV and 20 IBU. Unfiltered and pasteurised, like the rest of the range. It pours amber with a faint orange tint. The aroma combines tropical hop character with the sweet-sharp scent of blood orange: citrus peel, mango, a hint of berry. On the palate the blood orange is woven through rather than bolted on top. It adds fruity sweetness that rounds out the hop bitterness without killing it. Medium-light body, lively carbonation. The finish is clean, with blood orange and citrus peel carrying through to the end. A gentler profile than the straight Unchained, and the fruit works better with this style than you might expect.
