About This Drink
Alexander is A. Le Coq's Bohemian sub-brand, built around the hop-forward character of Czech brewing. The non-alcoholic version holds to that brief more convincingly than most: at 22 IBU it sits in noticeably bitter territory for a 0.0% beer, and the colour at 16 EBC runs deeper golden-amber than a standard pale lager. Floral and grassy hops come through on the nose, with biscuit malt underneath. The palate follows: earthy hop bitterness up front, a little resinous, balanced by a smooth malt backbone. The body stays lean at 22 kcal per 100ml and 3g sugar, so it never becomes heavy. Finishes dry and crisp with the bitterness hanging around a bit. If most non-alcoholic lagers feel too soft, this one has more to say. Serve at 4-6°C.
