ü.NN IPA alkoholfrei
Unfiltered alcohol-free IPA from Hamburg, brewed with Simcoe and Mosaic hops using a yeast that can't ferment malt sugars — hazy deep orange, pine and citrus-forward, properly bitter at 45 IBU.
About This Drink
ü.NN was among the first alcohol-free IPAs produced in Germany. Kehrwieder brew it with a specialised yeast that cannot ferment malt sugars, which means the beer reaches its character without going through the dealcoholisation process that strips flavour from many AF beers. It is also unfiltered, which contributes to the hazy pour and slightly fuller texture. The aroma is proper IPA territory: pine resin, mandarin peel, and mango from the Simcoe and Mosaic, with a grassy hop note and a faint floral lift. There is real hop presence on the nose, not a vague suggestion of it. On the palate, grapefruit pith bitterness hits first, then a gentle biscuit malt sweetness balances as it warms. The finish is dry with lingering citrus peel. At 0.4% ABV and 45 IBU, it is a credible IPA in a category where many entries pull their punches on bitterness. If that's what you're after, this is one of the more honest versions available.
