About This Drink
Yop Rock came out of a collaboration between Bluntrock and Lallemand, the Canadian yeast science company. It was the first UK beer to use Evodia Bio Yops, a natural yeast-derived aroma solution developed with Danish biotech firm EvodiaBio. The idea is to restore the aromatic complexity that tends to disappear when you take alcohol out of the equation. It pours bright pale gold and clear. The Bio Yops do their job: there's a citrusy lift on the nose that you don't often find at 0.5%, sitting over a clean grain base. The palate is light-bodied and crisp, with a dry finish that fades cleanly. Not complicated, but it holds together better than most low-alcohol lagers.
