Bluntrock
Bluntrock Brewery emerged from a simple observation. Founders George and Hugo noticed that while modern US-style pale ales were conquering the rest of Britain, their corner of North Cornwall remained underserved. In late 2020, they set about fixing that.
The brewery started life in recycled yellow shipping containers in Rock, a coastal village on the Camel Estuary. That scrappy setup, complete with taproom and beer garden, quickly became a local favourite. Too quickly, as it turned out. Demand outstripped what the containers could produce.
By May 2024, Bluntrock had opened a proper brewery 600 metres down the road. The new facility reflects where they want to go as a company: solar panels, an onsite borehole for water, and CO2 recovery from the brewing process. They were the first Cornish brewery to install carbon capture technology. B-Corp certification is the stated goal for 2026.
The beer range covers modern craft territory. Pagan Juice is their hazy pale ale, Kanpai a Japanese rice lager, and there are rotating specials for regulars to hunt down. But Bluntrock also takes alcohol-free seriously. Zen, their 0.5% pale ale, gets dry-hopped with Krush and Mosaic for citrus and stone fruit character. Yop Rock offers a lager alternative at the same strength. Both come in 440ml cans and feature in bundle deals with branded glassware.
You can drink at the source in their St Minver taproom, where Fat Pepper handles the food. The Pagan Arms in Newquay stocks the range too. Beyond Cornwall, they ship across the UK through their online shop, with free delivery kicking in at £40.
Bluntrock represents a newer wave of regional craft breweries treating alcohol-free as a genuine part of their lineup rather than an afterthought. If you're in North Cornwall, the taproom in St Minver is the obvious place to start.
