Float On
A 0.5% pale ale brewed with an oat-heavy grain bill and New Zealand hops, landing somewhere between juicy and properly bitter.
About This Drink
Nectaron and Superdelic are both New Zealand varieties that lean hard into tropical fruit: passion fruit, guava, ripe peach, with a white grape note underneath. Used together here, they give Float On a fragrant, fruit-forward character that the oat base helps carry without going cloying. The oats do real work. Most 0.5% pale ales suffer from thin body, which undercuts whatever hop character the brewer put in. The creamy texture here gives the tropical notes somewhere to sit, and the carbonation keeps it lively rather than flat. The finish is clean and dry with a hop bitterness that lingers just long enough to feel like an actual beer. At this strength and with this much going on, it's one of the more convincing AF pale ales around. The body punches above what you'd expect from a non-alcoholic can.
