About This Drink
The hop selection here is deliberate. Citra Lupomax and Citra Dynaboost are concentrated hop formats that punch up tropical intensity without the grassy, vegetal character that standard hop additions can introduce at lower ABVs. Idaho 7 and Amarillo round things out, adding papaya and stone fruit alongside the grapefruit that Citra is known for. It pours clear to hazy amber-gold. The aroma is generous: grapefruit peel, mango and ripe papaya, with a resinous pine note underneath that keeps it grounded. On the palate the bitterness lands firmly, which is not always a given in the alcohol-free IPA category. Tropical fruit carries through the middle, and the finish is dry, piney and lingers longer than most. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. At 4.1g carbs per 100ml there is enough malt backbone to support the hop intensity without tipping sweet. Suits anyone who finds most AF IPAs too timid.
