Ghost Ship goes through the full brewing process before the alcohol is removed by reverse osmosis. The base is a mix of East Anglian pale ale and Cara malts, locally-grown rye, and a hop bill led by Citra. That process means it behaves more like a real beer than many in the category. The pour is tawny amber with a slim white head. There's elderflower on the nose, then citrus and gooseberry on the palate with a touch of rye spice in the background. The finish is dry with some resinous bitterness, which is more than you get from a lot of 0.5% pales. At 12 calories per 100ml it's about as light as low-alcohol beer gets.
