The Nightcap is Three Spirit's evening-oriented botanical spirit, formulated around ingredients associated with winding down: valerian, lemon balm, hops, and ashwagandha. Whether the functional effects land depends on the individual, but the flavour profile holds up regardless. It's deep amber-brown with a warm, spicy nose: black pepper and Sichuan pepper up front, with earthy valerian underneath. On the palate there's maple sweetness and vanilla that keeps things from getting too austere, balanced by the bitterness of hops and turmeric. The mouthfeel is syrupy, and the finish is mellow and slow-fading rather than sharp. Fifty millilitres over ice with a dash of bitters and an orange slice is the suggested serve. It doesn't need much else. Works as a nightcap in a fairly literal sense: calorie-conscious, no artificial additives, vegan and gluten-free.
