Grove 42 is the citrus expression in the Seedlip range, and it leans into that fully. Bitter orange, blood orange and mandarin provide the main body, with lemon peel adding sharpness and lemongrass lifting it into something more aromatic than a straightforward fruit drink. Ginger root brings warmth, and the sansho peppercorn leaves a dry, slightly prickly finish that stops the whole thing tipping into sweetness. Like the rest of the range, individual botanicals are distilled separately in copper pot stills before being blended with spring water. The result is clear and pale with no colouring. It works best with a good tonic and a piece of orange peel. The dry, peppery finish holds up reasonably well against tonic's bitterness, which is more than can be said for some botanical spirits in this category.
