Eye Opener is the earlier name for what Mockly now calls Herbal Tangerine Elixir. The recipe combines tangerine and lemon as the citrus base, peach to soften the sharpness, basil as the savoury-herbal element, and lemongrass in the background. It pours a pale amber-orange with light effervescence. The aroma is citrus-forward: fresh tangerine, a squeeze of lemon, aromatic basil lifting underneath. On the palate the tangerine leads, bright and sweet, with the basil providing a distinctive savoury counterpoint. The peach is a soft presence rather than a dominant flavour. The finish is clean and citrus-dry with a herbal note. The basil is what makes this interesting. Without it, it would just be another fruit spritz.
