About This Drink
Laine Brew Co is the brewing side of Laine, the pub group with a strong foothold in Brighton and London. King Limbo is their take on a 0.5% IPA, built on a four-hop bill of Citra, Summit, Columbus and Mosaic with a grain base that includes wheat, rye and oats alongside the barley. It goes out unfiltered and unpasteurised, which keeps the body honest and the pour hazy. The aroma is the strong suit here: mango and tropical fruit lead, with grapefruit peel and pine resin sitting underneath. On the palate, the grain bill gives a brief sweetness before the bitterness takes over. Grapefruit and mandarin, a bit of earthy pine, a light herbal edge. The finish is dry and lingers with hop bitterness. It's not a subtle IPA. At 11 kcal per 100ml it's one of the lighter options in the category. The unfiltered approach gives it more texture than you'd expect from a low-ABV beer.
