About This Drink
Rheinland Distillers built Wonderazul on a real blue agave distillate sourced from Mexico, then layered in citrus acids, natural aromatics and a light smoke element to approximate the character of a blanco tequila. The result is a clear, near-colourless liquid with the faint suggestion of colour in the glass. The nose leads with agave sweetness, picks up a thread of earthy smoke and settles into citrus. On the palate the agave comes through cleanly. Salt and a citrus tang give it structure; lactic acid adds a gentle tartness that stops it reading as flat or sweet. There is no heat, which is the obvious absence, but the dry saline finish does some of that work. It holds up well in a margarita or paloma. The flavour doesn't disappear under lime and triple sec the way some AF spirits do. At 4 kcal per 100ml it is one of the lightest AF spirits on the market, which is useful context if you are making rounds.
