Milkshake Lager takes the American milkshake IPA format and applies it to a lager base. Brewed with lactose for creaminess and fruit additions for aroma, it's a limited small-batch release rather than a permanent line. Contains lactose, so vegetarian but not vegan. Social Blend nootropics are included as with the rest of the range. It pours hazy and pale straw with a pillowy white head. The nose is immediately dessert-like: ripe passionfruit, blood orange, and trailing vanilla. On the palate the lactose gives it a rounded, velvety body that conventional lagers don't have. Passionfruit and blood orange dominate the mid-palate, with vanilla cream arriving in the finish. Bitterness is low throughout - this is a sweet, fruit-forward beer rather than a hoppy one. It's not trying to be a traditional lager, and it doesn't pretend to be. For those who enjoy sweeter, fruitier craft styles it's an interesting pour. If you want something dry and crisp, the core lager is the better fit.
