La Cuvée Vintage 2022
French Bloom's single-vintage Blanc de Blancs, made from organic Chardonnay grown in Limoux and dealcoholised gently to preserve its complexity.
About This Drink
This is the most ambitious thing in the French Bloom range: a single-vintage alcohol-free Blanc de Blancs made in collaboration with Rodolphe Frerejean-Taittinger. The 2022 base wine comes from organic Chardonnay in the Limoux appellation, and the gentle dealcoholisation process is designed to hold onto as much of that complexity as possible. The nose is genuinely interesting. Caramelised nuts, dried apricot, mocha and a brioche-like toasted quality, with candied fruit and vanilla underneath. It's rich territory for an alcohol-free wine. On the palate there's real concentration: mirabelle plum, marmalade, honeyed dried fruit and that brioche note carrying through. The acidity keeps it from feeling heavy, and the finish is long, with crisp and creamy notes running together. It's a serious glass of something for people who take wine seriously. The texture and depth are there. Whether you're drinking it alongside food or on its own, it holds up in a way that most alcohol-free sparkling wines simply don't.
