About This Drink
Amundsen's Dessert In A Can series is built on a simple premise: take a dessert, brew it into a stout. The Caramel Choc Chip Cookie version pours jet black with a creamy tan head, and the aroma does exactly what the name promises: chocolate, caramel and honeyed oats, sweet and immediate. On the palate it is smooth and full-bodied, oats and lactose giving it the rounded weight that keeps the sweetness from feeling thin. Caramel leads, followed by biscuit malt and milk chocolate, closing out on a sweet finish with very little bitterness to get in the way. This is unambiguously a dessert beer. If you want something dry and bitter, look elsewhere. If you want an alcohol-free stout that commits entirely to the indulgent end of the pastry spectrum, this does it without apology.
