Hardys Zero
Hardys Zero brings dealcoholised wine from one of Australia's oldest and most established wineries. The parent brand dates back to 1853, when Thomas Hardy arrived in South Australia with little more than ambition and thirty quid in his pocket. He went on to build what became the country's largest wine operation, a business that's now part of Accolade Wines.
The Zero range launched in 2022, joining the wave of major wine producers entering the alcohol-free market. Where some historic brands treat their AF offerings as an afterthought, Hardys invested in specialised dealcoholisation technology designed to preserve the character of the original wine. The process removes alcohol while aiming to retain the flavour compounds that make wine taste like wine rather than grape juice.
The range keeps things simple: a Chardonnay, a Shiraz, and a Sparkling. The Chardonnay shows typical stone fruit and citrus notes you'd expect from an Australian white. The Shiraz delivers dark berry flavours with a hint of spice. Neither pretends to be something it isn't. These are straightforward, food-friendly wines for occasions when you want the ritual of wine without the alcohol.
Hardys Zero sits in an interesting position. The brand carries genuine heritage and recognition. Walk into any UK supermarket and you'll likely spot the familiar Hardys label. That distribution muscle means the Zero range reaches shoppers who might never visit a specialist alcohol-free retailer. For many people, seeing a trusted name on an AF bottle provides reassurance that the category has moved beyond novelty.
You'll find Hardys Zero in Tesco, Asda, and other major supermarkets across the UK. Pricing sits around the same level as mid-range alcoholic wines, which feels fair given the production process involved. A heritage producer with 170 years of winemaking behind them gives the range credibility that newer AF brands have to earn the hard way.
