Freixenet

The Spanish Civil War nearly ended the business before it began. The family lost everything, only to rebuild through the determination of Dolores and her daughter. By 1941 they had launched Carta Nevada, which became the company's signature cava. The iconic black frosted bottle of Cordon Negro followed in 1974, turning Freixenet into a globally recognised name. Today the company sits within Henkell Freixenet, the world's largest sparkling wine group, and exports to over 150 countries.

Their alcohol-free range carries the same attention to detail. Freixenet produces full-strength wine from Penedès grapes, then removes the alcohol through vacuum distillation at low temperatures. This preserves more of the original character than cheaper dealcoholisation methods. The result is a sparkling wine with genuine complexity rather than sweetened grape juice pretending to be something more.

The 0.0% range includes both white and rosé options. The white shows tropical fruit and citrus on the nose with balanced acidity and persistent fine bubbles. The rosé follows a similar template with red fruit notes. Both clock in at around 15 calories per 100ml, considerably less than standard sparkling wine.

Availability is excellent. Tesco, Sainsbury's, and most major supermarkets stock the range. You'll also find it in independent wine merchants and online retailers. The familiar Freixenet packaging means it doesn't look out of place at celebrations where others are drinking the alcoholic version.
