About This Drink
Each beer in the Dazzle Ship series spotlights one hop variety in isolation. This one uses Azacca, a relatively modern American hop known for its tropical fruit output. At under 0.5% ABV, vegan and gluten-free. The name refers to dazzle camouflage, the bold geometric patterns painted on warships during the First World War. The beer has that same lack of subtlety. It pours a golden haze, and the aroma hits immediately: papaya, tangerine, and pineapple, with a faint resinous undercurrent. The palate is juicy and fruit-forward, the hop bitterness present but kept in check so it doesn't crowd out the tropical notes. Finish is clean with a pleasant pithy bitterness that lingers briefly. If you're wondering what a single hop variety actually tastes like stripped of everything else, this is a good way to find out.
