Mocha Porter is a tenth-anniversary brew, made in partnership with Climpson and Sons, Nirvana's neighbours in Leyton. The coffee element is Midnight Oil concentrate, made from The Baron, a single-origin coffee from Daterra farm in Brazil. Using a concentrate rather than whole beans gives the coffee character something more integrated than a straight cold-brew addition. The result is a porter where the coffee genuinely earns its place. Espresso and dark chocolate on the nose, with roasted malt underneath. The palate is full and rounded: roasted cocoa, hazelnut, and caramel with a creamy lactose sweetness that adds body without tipping into dessert territory. The finish is long and warming, roasted notes fading slowly. Note that this contains lactose and is not suitable for vegans, though it is suitable for vegetarians.
