West Coast IPA is the hop-forward anchor of Nirvana's range. Vienna and Munich malts build a smooth, biscuit-caramel foundation, and the dry hop of Mosaic, Nectaron, and Simcoe in combination produces layered aromas of pine resin, stone fruit, and citrus that land with real presence for a 0.5% beer. The colour is a clear light amber. The aroma is assertive from the first pour: pine, grapefruit pith, and mango coming forward with intensity. On the palate the biscuit malt backbone gives structure, while the hops bring zesty grapefruit and stone fruit through the mid-palate. The finish is dry and resinous, bitterness fading slowly. One of the more convincing alcohol-free IPAs in the format.
