Still AF red wine is probably the trickiest category in the non-alcoholic space. Alcohol carries tannin and structure in a way that's very hard to replicate, and most attempts either taste thin or oddly sweet. This Merlot is made using low-temperature vacuum extraction, which at least preserves the fruit aromas. You get plum, cherry and soft red berry on the nose, and the palate has some roundness courtesy of the soft tannin structure. It won't convince anyone it's the real thing. The body is lighter than a standard Merlot, and the finish is shorter. But the fruit character is genuine and the tannins don't disappear entirely.
