IMPOSSIBREW's lager is brewed using a low-temperature process that keeps it naturally under 0.5% ABV throughout fermentation - there's no dealcoholisation step. It's dry-hopped and given extended conditioning time, which the brand credits for the flavour depth. The recipe draws from a Japanese lager base. In the glass it's golden and lightly hazy. The aroma is hop-forward with citrus and floral notes. On the palate it's clean, light-bodied and crisp, with the citrus carrying through into a reasonably clean finish. There's a faint toffee sweetness underneath but it's not cloying. It sits closer to a premium European lager in character than the watery end of the alcohol-free market. The nootropic angle is the brand's USP: L-theanine and organic ashwagandha are added with the aim of promoting relaxation. Whether or not that lands for you, the beer itself is a decent AF lager - low calorie at 15 per 100ml, gluten-free, and vegan.
