Rosé
Dealcoholised rosé from Spanish Tempranillo grapes, pale salmon-pink with delicate strawberry and peach character.
About This Drink
Made by Reh Kendermann for the Waitrose own-label range, this uses Tempranillo grapes from Spain. Full fermentation comes first, then the alcohol is removed via low-temperature vacuum distillation, with some added carbonation and flavouring to finish it off. The nose is gentle: fresh peach, strawberry, and a faint floral note. On the palate the fruit stays delicate rather than pushing forward, strawberry and raspberry sitting alongside a mild sweetness. At 15 calories per 100ml it's one of the lighter options in the category, and the lower sugar content keeps it from tipping into cloying territory. The finish is brief and clean. Serve well-chilled. At this price point, from a supermarket own-label range, it's a reasonable choice for warm weather occasions.
