Giesen 0% Rosé Spritz blends dealcoholised Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling with a touch of Syrah for colour and depth, then adds light carbonation at bottling. The base wine goes through the same spinning cone dealcoholisation process as the still rosé, making this a sparkling version rather than a fundamentally different product. The nose is floral and fruity with cranberry, strawberry, and rose petal. On the palate there is citrus brightness alongside tropical fruit and red berries, all carried along by the light carbonation. The finish is clean and fades quickly, which suits the spritz format. It sits in an awkward category on paper but drinks well in practice. The carbonation adds lift and freshness that the still rosé doesn't have, and the lower perceived sweetness from the bubbles keeps it from feeling cloying.
