Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc Spritz takes the brand's dealcoholised Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and blends in Riesling for added softness and stone fruit texture before carbonating the final wine. It shares the same spinning cone dealcoholisation process as the still Sauvignon Blanc, with the effervescence added at bottling. The nose is tropical and bright with ripe citrus, guava, and passionfruit alongside a thread of honeysuckle. On the palate those tropical flavours come through with lively acidity, and the Riesling component adds a soft stone fruit note and a faint off-dry quality. The bubbles carry the flavours along without overwhelming them. The finish is light. The Riesling addition is a nice touch. It rounds off some of the sharper edges of the Sauvignon Blanc and gives the spritz a little more texture than you might expect from a carbonated dealcoholised wine.
