Scavi & Ray
Joe Scavi and Carluccio Ray left their New York advertising agency in 1963 to start something new. A trip to Italy led them to a vineyard in Veneto, Treviso province, where they pressed their first prosecco using late-ripening Glera grapes. SCAVI & RAY was born from that moment of creative reinvention.
The brand grew around Italian elegance and uncompromising quality. Sparkling prosecco anchored the range, joined by fruity wines and balanced grappas. Throughout, the emphasis stayed on freshness and straightforward enjoyment.
Their non-alcoholic sparkling wine applies the same Glera grapes and attention to quality. A gentle vacuum-based dealcoholisation process preserves round, rich aromas while removing alcohol completely. The result pours pale straw yellow with fine, persistent bubbles.
On the nose, green apple, pear, and citrus meet a faint floral lift. The palate delivers crisp, bright fruit balanced by delicate acidity. Light-bodied with soft mousse texture, it finishes clean with gentle fruit and mineral notes.
The dryness matters. Many alcohol-free sparklings compensate for removed alcohol with sweetness. SCAVI & RAY maintains the crispness that makes prosecco refreshing, avoiding the cloying finish that puts people off the category.
Best served at 8-10°C in a proper prosecco glass, neat or on ice. It also works in non-alcoholic versions of Bellini, Hugo, or Spritz. UK availability runs through supermarkets and online specialists.
