Botivo sits in the aperitivo tradition without trying to replicate any specific spirit. The bittersweet backbone and herbal complexity give it weight. Served long over ice with soda and orange, it holds its own as a pre-dinner drink. That transition from work to evening when you want something more interesting than juice is where Botivo earns its place.

Their route to market was deliberate. Rather than chasing supermarket volume early, Botivo focused on restaurant credibility first. You'll now find it at places like The River Cafe, St. John, and Ottolenghi's Rovi. That hospitality presence built trust with drinkers who might otherwise dismiss the alcohol-free category.

Retail followed. Waitrose, Whole Foods, and Majestic all stock Botivo. The brand also sells direct from their Hertfordshire farm shop online, shipping across the UK and to the Netherlands. Limited collaborations, like an Ottolenghi edition and a barrel-aged version with Berry Bros, keep things interesting for existing fans.

Botivo joined the Maker's Alliance, a collective of brands committed to in-house production using real ingredients. That transparency matters in a category where many products rely on flavourings and extracts. The farm provenance, the long production timeline, and the hospitality-first approach place Botivo firmly at the craft end of the market.
