Hammerton Brewery sits in the heart of Islington, North London, where Lee Hammerton and his wife Karina have been brewing craft beer since 2014. Lee left an IT career to chase his passion for IPAs, later discovering a family connection to an original Hammerton Brewery that operated back in the 1950s. That heritage adds a nice layer to what is otherwise a thoroughly modern operation.

The brewery has built its reputation on creative, flavour-forward beers. Their core range spans hoppy pales, pilsners, and rich stouts, with the peanut butter stout Crunch earning something of a cult following. Monthly limited editions and small-batch experiments keep things interesting for regulars.

On the alcohol-free front, Hammerton brings the same creative energy that defines their full-strength range. Zed, their AF pale ale, delivers citrus hop character without the thin, watery quality that plagues lesser attempts. It has picked up recognition at SIBA awards, competing well against the broader AF field. For something richer, Fudge City AF offers a chocolate fudge cake stout experience at 0.5%, while Crunch AF translates their popular peanut butter stout into alcohol-free territory.

What makes Hammerton's AF beers worth seeking out is that sense of intention. These aren't afterthoughts or stripped-down versions of existing recipes. The brewery applies the same care to their 0.5% offerings as they do to anything else leaving the brewhouse.

You can find Hammerton beers at their Islington taproom, through their online shop, and at stockists around London and beyond. Their AF range sits comfortably in the premium craft bracket, priced accordingly.
