Martini
Martini has been part of the Italian drinks landscape since 1863, when Alessandro Martini, Luigi Rossi, and Teofilo Sola started making vermouth near Turin. The brand became a global icon of aperitivo culture, and that recognisable bottle has graced more bar carts than most people could count. Now part of the Bacardi group, Martini still trades on that heritage.
Their alcohol-free lineup launched in 2020 with two expressions. Vibrante takes the red vermouth position: bergamot-forward with citrus brightness layered over bittersweet herbal notes. It has genuine backbone, the kind of bitter complexity that makes it work in a spritz or simply lengthened with tonic and a slice of orange. Floreale plays the lighter, drier role. Roman chamomile and artemisia give it an aromatic, floral character that sits on the elegant end of the spectrum. Both start as wine with botanicals before the alcohol is gently removed, keeping things under 0.5% ABV.
What matters here is the approach. Starting from real wine rather than building flavour synthetically gives these bottles a depth that comes through in the glass. They taste like they belong in the aperitivo tradition rather than imitating it from the outside.
Vibrante and Floreale are widely stocked across UK supermarkets including Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Ocado. Pricing sits in the premium bracket for alcohol-free, though a bottle goes a long way when you're mixing spritzes.
