Beavertown started in 2011 in the kitchen of a North London barbecue joint. Logan Plant, the founder, had spent a decade touring as a musician before returning to his dream of brewing. The early setup was gloriously scrappy: a rice pan for heating water, a camping cool box as a mash tun, and a tea urn doubling as a kettle. The brewery takes its name from De Beauvoir Town in Hackney, where those first batches were made.

The brewery grew fast. By 2014 they had moved to Tottenham Hale, and in 2020 they opened a massive new facility in Enfield with capacity for serious scale. Heineken took a stake in 2018 and completed the acquisition in 2022, giving Beavertown the backing to expand while keeping the brand's distinctive character intact.

Beavertown made its name with hoppy, American-influenced beers. Neck Oil became a ubiquitous session IPA, and Gamma Ray established itself as a go-to pale ale. The artwork, all skulls and space themes, stands out on any shelf. That visual identity carries through to their alcohol-free offering.

Lazer Crush is their main AF beer, an IPA sitting at 0.3% ABV. Rather than brewing a full-strength beer and stripping the alcohol out, Beavertown uses a yeast that ferments without producing alcohol in the first place. The result keeps more of the hop character that makes their regular beers popular. Tropical fruit, citrus, and pine come through with a bitter finish. Satellite, their super session IPA, offers another low-ABV option for those who want just a touch more body.

You can find Beavertown in most major supermarkets, plenty of pubs, and through their own online shop. They also run a microbrewery at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, cementing their North London roots. Lazer Crush sits comfortably alongside the full-strength range rather than feeling like an afterthought.
