The Very Cautious One comes from De Bortoli, one of Australia's oldest family-owned wineries. Based in the Riverina region of New South Wales, De Bortoli has been making wine since 1928. Their alcohol-free range launched under this playfully named sub-brand, targeting drinkers who want the wine experience without the alcohol.

The range uses SIGMATEC vacuum distillation to remove alcohol while preserving the wine's character. This gentle process operates at lower temperatures than traditional methods, helping retain the aromatic compounds that make wine taste like wine rather than grape juice.

Current offerings include a Rosé and a Sparkling option. The Rosé carries strawberry and citrus notes typical of the style, while the Sparkling provides the fizz and celebration factor without the morning-after regret. Both clock in at under 0.5% ABV.

De Bortoli's winemaking pedigree shows in these bottles. They're not approaching AF wine as an afterthought but applying the same attention they give their alcoholic range. The fruit sourcing, the production methods, the packaging: all handled with care.

Primarily stocked at Dan Murphy's and other Australian retailers, with growing distribution internationally. The name is tongue-in-cheek, but the winemaking behind it is not.
