Wignac
Wignac takes its name from Edouard and Eliane's great-great-grandmother, la Marquise de Wignac, whose family built the Château de Guignicourt sur Vence in the Ardennes region of northeastern France in 1710. Three centuries later, the estate now produces organic cider that honours that heritage.
The cidery sits near the Belgian border in the Grand Est region, using a mix of cider apples, table apples, and grape juice from Burgundy. Everything carries organic certification. No added sugar, no colouring, no sulphites. The commitment to natural production runs through every bottle.
Their alcohol-free option, Le Lièvre 0.0% (also called Lady Squirrel), launched in spring 2020. Made from 100% pure organic apple juice harvested in the Ardennes, it delivers genuine cider character without any alcohol. The same quality standards apply: organic, vegan, gluten-free.
Beyond the cider itself, Wignac is working to revive local orchards and create jobs in a part of France that has lost a lot of agricultural activity. The organic and social side of things isn't a marketing add-on; it's built into how the estate operates.
Available in 250ml and 750ml bottles through specialist retailers. A niche option, but one with a genuine story behind it.
