Theakston has been brewing in Masham, North Yorkshire since 1827. The brewery remains in the same town where it started, making it one of Britain's genuine heritage brewers. When they released an alcohol-free version of their most famous beer, it carried the weight of nearly two centuries of brewing tradition.

Nowt Peculier takes Theakston's beloved Old Peculier and removes the alcohol while keeping the dark, rich character that made the original a cult favourite. The name is proper Yorkshire humour: "nowt" meaning nothing, as in nothing alcoholic. The beer pours deep brown with the roasted malt and fruit notes you'd expect from its full-strength sibling.

The brewery uses a careful dealcoholisation process to strip out the alcohol after fermentation, preserving more of the original beer's complexity than you'd get from restricted fermentation methods. It's still brewed at the Masham site, using the same water source the Theakston family has relied on for generations.

Theakston sits firmly in the traditional British ale camp. They're not chasing trends or launching ranges of IPAs. Their focus is proper Yorkshire beer, and Nowt Peculier extends that tradition to drinkers who want the experience without the alcohol.

Available at Morrisons and specialist beer retailers, Nowt Peculier appeals particularly to fans of the original who need or want an alcohol-free alternative. It's not trying to convert IPA drinkers. It's giving Old Peculier loyalists a way to keep enjoying that distinctive Theakston character.
