Sandford Orchards
Sandford Orchards operates from Britain's oldest working cider mill in Crediton, Mid Devon. Founded in 2002 as an independent, family-owned operation, they've built their reputation on a simple principle: only fresh juice from locally sourced cider apples, every drop made on site.
Apple variety matters here. Farmer's Glory, Dabinett, and Sweet Alford contribute their distinct characters to the cider. That attention to fruit selection shows in the finished products, which carry complexity that mass-produced ciders lack.
Red Zero brings their award-winning Devon Red into alcohol-free territory. Rather than brewing something separate, they extract alcohol from real cider, preserving the character that made the original successful. The result is crisp, fruity, and unmistakably cider rather than apple-flavoured fizz.
Red Zero won Best Non-Alcoholic Cider at the World Cider Awards not long after launch, which confirmed what Devon cider fans already suspected: craft cider principles carry over into the alcohol-free category better than industrial shortcuts.
At 0.5% ABV, Red Zero sits just under the alcohol-free threshold while maintaining full flavour. The slightly higher residual alcohol allows more of the original cider character to survive the dealcoholisation process.
Direct ordering from their website handles UK delivery, with selected retail outlets and hospitality venues also stocking the range. A solid option if you want something genuinely rooted in cider-making tradition rather than a category afterthought.
