Stowford Press
Henry Weston started making cider in Much Marcle, Herefordshire in 1880. Five generations later, the family company still operates from the same location, using cider apples grown within 50 miles of their mill. Stowford Press emerged as their flagship brand, combining century-old traditions with modern appeal.
The 0.5% version pioneered low-alcohol cider back in 1994, making Westons genuine innovators in the category long before alcohol-free drinking became fashionable. The brand revamped in 2010 refined the offering, proving that reduced alcohol needn't mean reduced quality.
Crisp ripe apple notes define the flavour profile, with hints of apple skin smoothed by subtle honey and a cidery bittersweet finish. The cider suits vegetarians, vegans, and coeliacs, broadening its appeal without compromising on taste.
Local sourcing matters. Only cider apples from nearby farmers and Westons' own orchards make the cut. That regional focus creates genuine terroir in the finished product: Herefordshire character you can taste.
At 0.5%, Stowford Press doesn't claim to be completely alcohol-free. It's designed for drinkers cutting back rather than abstaining entirely. That honesty about what it is, combined with decades of low-alcohol experience, makes it a credible choice.
UK availability is extensive through supermarkets, pubs, and direct ordering. For West Country cider fans wanting to moderate their intake, Stowford Press delivers the real thing with most of the alcohol removed.
