Maryensztadt
Maryensztadt takes its name from a historic neighbourhood tucked into Warsaw's old town. The founders wanted to brew there, but regulations pushed them south to Zwoleń, a small town in the Masovian countryside. The name stuck. Since 2015, this Polish craft brewery has built a reputation for ambitious, flavour-forward beers that punch well above expectations.
Owner Marcin Malecki cut his teeth as a consultant brewer before launching his own operation. That experience shows in the range: imperial stouts with espresso, Baltic porters aged for complexity, and revivals of Grodzisz, a traditional Polish smoked wheat beer that had disappeared from production in 1993. The brewery picked up international recognition early on at European beer competitions.
Their alcohol-free lineup trades under the Freeky name. The Freeky APA delivers citrus and tropical hop character from Cascade and Mosaic, finishing with clean bitterness rather than the cloying sweetness that mars many AF pale ales. Freeky Sour Passion Fruit takes a different path: tart, refreshing, heavy on tropical aromatics. Both sit at 0.5% ABV.
Maryensztadt runs a sustainability-focused operation, with attention to water and energy use throughout the brewing process. Distribution reaches beyond Poland into Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, though UK availability remains limited to specialist importers and online retailers.
