Bitburger Drive comes from one of Germany's most storied brewing families. The Bitburger Brauerei was founded in 1817 in the southern Eifel mountains by Johann Peter Wallenborn, and has remained in family hands for over two hundred years across seven generations. They were pioneers of the pilsner style in Germany, becoming one of the first breweries to adopt the bottom-fermenting Pilsen process in 1883.

Drive represents their alcohol-free offering, brewed to 0.0% ABV. What distinguishes it from many competitors is the production method. Rather than halting fermentation early, which leaves residual sweetness, Bitburger allows full fermentation before removing the alcohol. The result is a drier, more authentic pilsner character.

The beer pours a straw gold with stable white foam. Expect hop-forward aromas with subtle caramel notes, a lively carbonation on the palate, and that distinctive pilsner bitterness in the finish. It uses the brewery's signature hop blend and adheres to the Reinheitsgebot, the German beer purity law dating back to 1516.

Bitburger holds significant credibility in the beer world. Their main pilsner is Germany's third best-selling and the nation's top-selling draught beer. That brewing expertise translates to their alcohol-free range, which stands as one of the more respected European options in the category.

In the UK, Bitburger Drive is available through specialist beer retailers including Majestic Wine, Dry Drinker, and LightDrinks, as well as Amazon. Major supermarket presence is limited compared to some competitors, but online availability is solid. It sits in a distinct corner of the AF market: continental heritage, traditional method, no frills.
