Sharp's
Bill Sharp founded his brewery in Rock, Cornwall in 1994. The coastal location shaped the brand's identity, and nowhere more so than in Doom Bar, named after the notoriously dangerous sandbank that has claimed ships along the North Cornish Coast.
Doom Bar grew into the UK's number one cask and bottled ale, a remarkable achievement for a regional brewery. Molson Coors acquired Sharp's in 2011, bringing distribution muscle while the brewery continued operating from its Cornish home.
Doom Bar Zero launched in August 2020, extending the flagship brand into alcohol-free territory. Rather than creating something new, Sharp's focused on delivering the same balanced, moreish character that made the original successful. Subtle complexity comes through in the amber ale without alcohol undermining the experience.
The brewery takes pride in its Cornish roots. Visitor experiences in Rock include flights across their range, from cask ales to zero alcohol options. A small team of passionate beer enthusiasts welcomes drinkers to see where it all happens.
UK availability is extensive, benefiting from Molson Coors' distribution network. Doom Bar Zero sits alongside the original in pubs, supermarkets, and off-licences nationwide. It's a straightforward extension of a well-established brand rather than a reinvention.
